汉译英常见错误 | 此委员会非彼委员会

原文：政府设立了专门委员会来调查市中心区的暴力问题。
错译：The government has established a committee to investigate the problem of inner city violence.

正译：The government has established a commission to investigate the problem of inner city violence.

注解：虽然 committee 和 commission 都有“委员会”的意思，但是 committee 主要指通过选举产生的委员会，用来代表选举者群体作出决定或计划，比如“全国人大常委会”翻译成英文就是“the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress”。

而 commission 主要指为了政府管控、调查某事等专门设立的委员会，而非选举产生，比如我国科学技术部的前身“国家科学技术委员会”翻译成英文就是“State Scientific and Technological Commission”。
