深入解读

Proclaim 一词源自拉丁语 proclamare （大叫），由前缀 pro- （向前、在前）+词根 claim （呼喊、叫喊）构成。

14世纪末进入英语后即用来表示“宣布、宣告、声明”，主要指官方在口头上正式或公开宣布某个重大事件或施政方针，有时候通过喇叭在公共场所大声宣传，通常是明确、有力和权威地广泛宣传，较 announce 更为正式，比如：

从大声明确地向外声明宣传这个概念出发， proclaim 也被进一步用来引申指“表明、明确显示、成为标志”，主要指清晰明确地向外表明或显示出来，常作书面用语使用，比如：

他那很特别的口音表明他是外地人。
His peculiar accent proclaimed him a stranger here.
足球迷们戴着表示忠诚的头巾和帽子，如潮水般涌入酒吧。
Wearing scarves and hats which proclaimed their allegiance, the football fans flooded into the bar.
