thankful(ness)

在口头或文字上表示感谢，通常用thank（动词），thanks（名词），grateful，gratitude，indebted，obliged等词，不用thankful或thankfulness。thankful和thankfulness通常不指对于人的感谢，却指对于客观形势的感谢。例如：

• I am thankful (that) I did catch the train.
• He was thankful to know that his father was safe.
• She was thankful for her little girl's quick recovery.
• All his troubles, I am thankful to say, are now over.
• At last he found himself with thankfulness in a village where they could not find him.
