(1) ①swindle意为“骗”,尤其指非法地骗,其目的是为了金钱。
- That trader has swindled me!
那个商人骗了我! - That company swindled money from its investors.
那个公司从它的投资者身上骗取钱财。
②swindle (sb.) of意为“骗走”。
- He swindled her of $50.
他骗走她50美元。
③swindle out of表示“从……骗走”。
- Disguising themselves as college students, they swindled a lot of money out of several college students in Wuhan.
他们乔装打扮成大学生,从武汉的几个大学生那儿骗走了许多钱。
(2) blackmail意为“敲诈,讹诈”,常指为了得到金钱或其他想要之物而进行敲诈。
- Threatening a scandal, he blackmailed the official into paying him $10,000 for keeping quiet.
以一桩丑闻作要挟,他以为其保密为由敲诈这位官员10 000美元。 - Don't think you can blackmail me into doing what you want; I will report you to the police.

(3) ①cheat意为“欺骗”,通过不公正、不诚实或欺骗手段骗取钱财或其他东西。
- You must be careful not to be cheated by that shopkeeper.

②cheat sb. out of sth.意为“骗走某人的东西”,与swindle sb. out of sth.同义。
- He cheated his brother out of his toy-train.
他骗走了他兄弟的玩具火车。
③cheat又有“作弊”的意思,如在考试、比赛中的违规行为。
- One student was caught cheating during the exam and expelled for that.
一个学生在考试中被发现作弊并因此被开除。
(4) ①deceive意为“欺骗,使某人相信虚假的、不正确的东西等”。
- A: Aren't you deceiving me?
你没在骗我吧?
B: No, of course not; it's the truth.
当然没有;这是事实。 - He was an outstanding commander good at deceiving his enemy by making a feint to the east and attacking in the west.
他是一位善于通过声东击西的手段来迷惑敌人的杰出的指挥官。
②deceive sb. into doing sth.意思为“欺骗某人做某事”。
- They were deceived into thinking that they each would be assigned a regular job after their graduation.
他们受了骗,以为在毕业后每人都会被分配到一个固定的工作。
(5) ①defraud指“骗取,以骗术搞到”。
- She defrauded her brother out of his share of the land.
她骗走了她兄弟的那份土地。 - He was defrauded of large sums of money by a cheat.

②defraud还作“剥夺”解,这时可与deprive换用。
- Many children in the poor mountain areas are defrauded/deprived of a chance for a good education.

(6) take in除其他意思外,还表示“欺骗,哄骗,使上当”,常用于被动式,较随便。
- Don't be taken in by his nice smile. He'll cheat you if he gets the chance.

(7) ①trick作动词时,意为“欺骗,使某人相信非真实的东西”,通常意在得到某种东西,与swindle, cheat, deceive在不少情况下可换用。
- I found that I had been tricked/swindled/cheated/deceived at the market.
我发现我在市场上被骗了。
②trick sb. into doing sth.与deceive/cheat sb. into doing sth.意思相同,均为“诱骗某人做某事”。
- They were tricked into believing what he did was for their sake.
他们受到哄骗,相信他所做的一切全是为了他们。
