Sonnet 117

Accuse me thus, that I have scanted all，

Wherein I should your great deserts repay，

Forgot upon your dearest love to call，

Where to all bonds do tie me day by day；

That I have frequent been with unknown minds，

And given to time your own dear-purchased right；

That I have hoisted sail to all the winds

Which should transport me farthest from your sight.

Book both my wilfulness and errors down，

And on just proof surmise, accumulate；

Bring me within the level of your frown，

But shoot not at me in your wakened hate；

Since my appeal says I did strive to prove

The constancy and virtue of your love.

请这样控告我：说我默不作声，

尽管对你的深恩我应当酬谢；

说我忘记向你缱绻的爱慰问，

尽管我对你依恋一天天密切；

说我时常和陌生的心灵来往，

为偶尔机缘断送你宝贵情谊；

说我不管什么风都把帆高扬，

任它们把我吹到天涯海角去。

请把我的任性和错误都记下，

在真凭实据上还要积累嫌疑，

把我带到你的颦眉蹙额底下，

千万别唤醒怨毒来把我射死；

因为我的诉状说我急于证明

你对我的爱多么忠贞和坚定。
