物质名词medicine（药）可用作不可数名词，如：

但也可用作可数名词，表示种类，上述句（1）即是一例，再如：

(4)One of my medicines tastes of strawberries.

(5)She has a cupboard full of different medicines .

像medicines这样表种类的复形物质名词，还有wines, liquids, teas, wheats等。顺便提一下，形容词different之后常接可数复形名词，这也算是上述句（1）应用medicines的理由之一。
