slip、glide、slide、skid与taxi这些动词均可表示“滑动”之意。
slip : 指不自觉地、偶然地滑动。
- As I ran up the stairs, my foot slipped and I fell.
我跑上楼梯时失脚摔倒了。 - His hat had slipped over one eye.
他的帽子滑下来遮住了一只眼睛。
glide : 多指自由、顺畅地滑动，或者说不费力、无声响地滑动，包括鸟类振翅较少的飞行以及滑翔机（glider）、失去动力的飞机进行的无动力飞行。（参见：小词详解 | glide）
- A broad valley opened up leading to a high, flat plateau of cultivated land. We saw a condor gliding high above the mountains.

slide : 通常多指与光滑表面保持接触并且迅速地连续滑动。
- We slid down the grassy slope.
我们从草坡上滑了下来。 - The drawers slide in and out easily.
这几个抽屉好推好拉。
skid : 着重指不自主地或失去控制地滑动，特指车轮在结冰或潮湿路面上的滑动，常暗含有危险存在的意味。
- The car skidded on the ice and went straight into the wall.
汽车在冰上打滑，径直撞到了墙上。 - The taxi skidded to a halt just in time.
出租车滑行了一段路后，及时停了下来。
taxi: 指飞机起飞前或降落后在地面上缓慢“滑行”。比如：
- She gave permission to the plane to taxi into position and hold for takeoff.
她发出指令，允许飞机滑行入位，准备起飞。
