汉译英常见错误 | 大有希望而不是大有机会

原文：如果我是你的话，我一定去申请这个职位。我认为你大有希望。
错译：I should apply for the post if I were you, I think you stand a good opportunity.

正译：I should apply for the post if I were you, I think you stand a good chance.
注解：在表示“机会”时， opportunity 和 chance 这两个单词通常可以互换使用，比如抓住机会（seize a chance or an opportunity）。但是在表示“可能性”时，则不能用 opportunity 代替。
