Britain是Great Britain的简称，包括England, Wales和Scotland。Great Britain和Northern Ireland合成the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland，简称the United Kingdom。有时也用Great Britain指the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland。Greater（不是Great）Britain指United Kingdom和一切属地，但这名称是非正式的。
