1.说“磅”在数字后面用pound或pounds都可以，如three pound(s) of sugar和several pound(s) of lard。现在用pounds普通些。

2.说“镑”在数字后面用pounds，如five pounds。说“几镑几先令”用pound，后面没有and，如five pound ten或five pound ten shillings。也有人用pounds，但不很普通。说“几镑几便士”用pounds，后面有and，如five pounds and tenpence。说“几镑几先令几便士”用pound，在便士数目前面有and，如five pound, ten shillings, and tenpence和five pound ten and ten。也有人用pounds，但不很普通。

4.用pound（磅）计算体重是美国方式，在英国习惯用stone（英石，等于14磅，单数和复数几乎总是同一形式），如“他体重150磅”在美国说He weighs a hundred and fifty pound(s)。在英国说He weighs ten stone ten。
