(1) ①在这种结构里，use后接-ing 形式。

• There is no use in hiding that fact from him. (in也可不用)
  对他隐瞒这事实没有用。
• It's/There's no use asking her — she doesn't know anything.
  问她没有用，她什么也不知道。

②这种结构可用在疑问句中(用any代替no)。

{	Is it any use trying to phone him? Is there any use trying to phone him? 给他打电话有用吗？

③也可用what构成疑问句，表示类似意思。

• What's the use of you/your trying to fool me like that/that way?
  你试图那样来愚弄我有什么用么？
• What use is there attempting to do such a thing?
  试图做这样一件事有什么用？

④在-ing形式前，可用人称代词或物主代词。

• It's no use you/your talking to her — let me do it.
  你与她谈没什么用处——让我来跟她谈吧。

 (2) 除use外，其他名词，如good, nuisance, help, waste, no point等也可以用在“It is...”结构中。

• It was a nuisance having to wait for such a long time.
  要等这么久，真烦人。
• It is hard work feeding so large a population with such a small area under cultivation.
  以这样小的耕地面积养活这样多的人口是一件困难的事情。
• It's no/little help arguing with him about this matter.
  和他在这件事上争吵没有用/帮助不大。
• It's/There's no point arguing about it.
  为这事争论毫无意义。
