(1) ①tame意为“驯化，使服从，使温顺”，尤指使野生或凶猛的动物变温顺。

• He wanted to tame that horse himself.

• You'd better tame that violent temper of yours.
  你最好使自己的烈性子温和点。
• She tames lions; she's a lion-tamer.
  她驯狮，是位驯狮员。

②tame也可用于比喻意义：

• Man has tamed much of nature and made it work for him.

 (2) domesticate意为“驯服，驯养”，尤指通过饲养或训练驯化动物。

• People first domesticated the dog thousands of years ago.
