The New York Times , an American daily newspaper, is founded and continuously published in New York City since 18 September, 1851, by The New York Times Company. Nicknamed for years as “The Gray Lady”, The New York Times is long regarded within the industry as a national “newspaper of record”.
《纽约时报》是纽约时报公司旗下的一份美国日报，自1851年9月18日在纽约创立并持续出版。《纽约时报》长期以来被戏称为“灰色女士”，在业内有国家“档案记录报”的美称。

The paper's motto, “All the News That's Fit to Print”, appears in the upper left-hand corner of the front page. Since the mid-1970s, it has greatly expanded its lay-out and organization, adding special weekly sections on various topics supplementing the regular news, editorials, sports and features. Recently it has been organized into sections: News, Editorials, New York (metropolitan), Business, Sports of The Times, Arts, Science, Styles, Home, and other features. The New York Times stayed with the broadsheet full page set-up and an eight-column format for several years after most papers switched to six, and was one of the last newspapers to adopt color photography, especially on the front page.

The Times has won a hundred and eight Pulitzer Prizes, the most of any news organization. Its website is the most popular American online newspaper website, receiving more than thirty million unique visitors per month. The print version of the paper is the largest local metropolitan newspaper in the United States and the third largest newspaper overall, behind The Wall Street Journal and USA Today .
