有人问到这样一个句子：

我们的课本上说，三餐名称之前不用冠词。而这里的supper之前却用了冠词the，这是怎么回事？

你们课本上的说法可能是在初学阶段对初学者而言的。实际上，三餐名称之前，既可不用a或the，亦可用a或the。前者一般指用餐时间（mealtime)或每天重复的不指具体食物的三餐，如（仍以supper为例）：

(2)It's time for supper .

(3)Supper is ready.

(4)We often take a walk after supper .

后者则指具体食物或种类而言，如上述句（1）中的the supper,再如：

(5)It was a good supper .

(6)The supper was badly cooked.
