有一读者问： 有这样一个句子：
(1)There are many rice fields within two miles of this place.
此句中的of为什么不可改用from?
习惯使然，牢记住就是了。顺便提一下，介词of的本义就是away from，只是具有此义的of现今已弃而不用(obsolete)，只保留在某些固定的说法中。除上述“within+表距离的词语+of+地点”外，还有如：
(2)It still wants ten minutes of eight o'clock. （=8点还差10分。再如美语中的ten minutes of eight）
(3)Japan lies to the east of China.
(4)He shot wide of the mark. （=离目标很远；说错了）
(5)A highwayman robbed him of his money. （同样用法还有deprive somebody of something, cure somebody of a disease等）
