seize on（或upon）似乎比seize语气重些，如They seized (up) on the opportunity比They seized the opportunity多含“急切”的意思。

seesaw在用作游戏名的时候前面没有a或the。

seem后面不可接as，但可以接as if。

用seek该注意勿犯双重被动的毛病，如不可说The situation has been sought to be improved。这句可以改作An attempt has been made to improve the situation。

a seed是“一粒种子”，seeds是“多粒种子”。

see的宾语后面的不定式没有to。例如：I often see him walk up the hill. 但假使把see改作被动语态，那不定式便该有to。

secure有时带有双宾语。例如：His services secured him a reward at length.

He is secretary to the Governor等句子里在secretary前面没有a，后面接to。

Please keep it secret (from him) 和Please keep it a secret (from him) 都可以说，都作“请把这件事［对他］保守秘密”解。

说“钟的秒针”该用second-hand，有连字号。

seat是及物动词，作“使…坐”解，seated＝sitting。
