lest所引导的从句里通常用should，如He hid it lest she should see it和He will hide it lest she should see it。

lesson和lessons（课程）后面接in和科目的名称，或on（或in）和科目的部分的名称

说less than ten yuan是可以的，意思是“不满十元”，不作“不满十个一元”解。但事实上把less用作fewer解也有，如less people和less houses。

at leisure和at one's leisure不同。at leisure有时用作状语短语，有时用作形容词短语。

a legend是“一个传奇故事”，the legend是“这个传奇故事”，legends是“多个传奇故事”，legend则统指传奇故事。

left是“左”，right是“右”，似乎很分明，但有下面两点该注意：

lectureship（lecturer的职位）不及lecturership合理，但比lecturership普通得多。

lecturer（大学讲师）后面接on或in，不接of，如a lecturer on（或in）biology里的on或in不可改作of，不可说biology lecturer等。

He lectured (to) the children on good manners（他给孩子们作关于礼貌的演讲）有to或没有to都可以。

leave往往用在现在时态或现在进行时态代替将来时态，如I leave tomorrow或I am leaving tomorrow作I shall leave tomorrow解。
