Oblique 是一个与小站两个月前推送的 小词详解 | opaque 有些形似的单词，源自拉丁语 obliquus （斜的、斜着眼看的、间接的），15世纪初进入英语时原指“斜的、倾斜的”，比如：
- He gave her miniature roses an oblique glance.
他斜了她的小玫瑰花一眼。 - Through the pristine window came the last few oblique rays of evening sunshine.
最后几束余晖透过崭新的窗户斜射进来。
这在数学领域还可以用来表示“斜角的”，即用于形容不是直角整数倍的角，比如斜角（oblique angle）、斜三角形（oblique triangle）等。
不过现在 oblique 更多的是用来引申指“间接的、不直截了当的、拐弯抹角的”，强调说话不直率或公开并使之理解起来比较费力，比如：
