深入解读

Glisten 一词比较好记，就是在熟词 listen 前面多加一个字母 G 。该词源自古英语 glisnian （闪光、闪烁），现在也是用来表示“闪光、闪亮”，主要指湿的、油性的、光滑的或擦亮的东西表面因反光而柔软光亮地闪闪发光，比如：

• 他闪亮的凝视目光传神地表达了他的恳求。
  His glistening gaze was eloquent in its plea.
• 那个沉默寡言的女孩靠着船上的护栏，凝望大海。平静的海面在阳光下波光粼粼。
  The reticent girl leaned on the ship's rail and gazed out to sea. The calm sea glistened in the sunlight.

而出自莎士比亚剧作《威尼斯商人》（The Merchant of Venice）的格言“all that glistens is not gold”（现在也常作“all that glitters is not gold”）则是用来表示“闪闪发光的未必都是金子、中看未必中用”，即并非所有看起好的、有吸引力的东西都是好的。
