当下级不明白为什么需要执行某个命令时，其上级有时会说“ours not to reason why”，即要求下级无条件执行命令。
这一表达其实是误用了《轻骑兵的冲锋》（The Charge of the Light Brigade）中的相关诗句，阿尔弗雷德·丁尼生（Alfred Tennyson）于克里米亚战争期间创作此诗：
Their’s not to make reply,
Their’s not to reason why,
Their’s but to do and die;
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
无人回答，
无人发问，
有的只是去战去死：
进入死亡之谷
骑兵六百名。
