(1) another可作形容词，也可作代词。作形容词时，常接单数名词。

• I don't like this one, show me another , please.
  我不喜欢这一个，请再给我看一个。
• You'll never see such another (one just like).
  这样的人再也看不到了。
• We'll go to the park another time/another day.
  我们改时间/日再去公园。

 (2) 但another 后可接few或一个数字再接复数名词。

• I've got another three days' holiday.
  我又得到三天的假期。
• There's room for another few people in the back of the bus.
  公共汽车后部还可容纳几个人。

 (3) 不定数目中的“另一个”用another；“两个中的另一个”用the other；“三个”用one, another/a second, the third/the other；“四个”用one, another, a third, the fourth/the other。

• One of my sisters is named Lily, and the other named Mary.
  我的姐妹一个叫莉莉，另一个叫玛丽。
• By the treaty each country pledged itself to assist the other in case of war.
  根据该条约，在发生战争时，一个国家应保证援助另一个国家。
• It is hard to tell the twins one from the other.
  很难把这对双胞胎区分开来。
• Problems arose one after another . (也可用the other )
  问题一个接一个地出现。
