(1) 通常情况下,两者意思和用法相同,均为“好像,似乎,仿佛”。
- It looks as if/though it's going to rain.
看起来好像要下雨。
(2) 在as if和as though之后,可用虚拟语气表示一项不很真实的或虚拟的情况。
- You look as if/though you'd seen a ghost. (You look so surprised!)
你看上去好像见了鬼似的。(你看上去那么吃惊!)
*试比较:
- You look as if you've been running.
你看起来好像一直在跑。 - You look as if you know each other.
你们看上去好像互相认识。 - Why is she looking at me as though she knew me? I've never seen her before in my life.
她为什么好像认识我似的看着我?我平生从未见过她。
(3) 当从句和主句主语一致,从句谓语中又含有be时,从句的主语和be常可省掉。
- He glanced about as if (he was) in search of something.
他向四处看了看,好像在寻找什么似的。 - He paused as if expecting me to speak.
他停了下来,仿佛在期待我讲话。
(4) as if/though间或可引起一个状语短语。
- He paused, as if to let the painful memories pass.
他停了下来,好像是要让那些不愉快的记忆过去。 - When she had finished, she waited as if/though (she was waiting) for a reply.
讲完后,她等待着,仿佛是在等待一个回答。
(5) 在虚拟的比较中,用were代替was(was也可以用,特别是在口语中)。
- She looked almost as if she were drunk.
她看上去几乎就像是喝醉了。 - He looked at me as if I were mad.
他看着我,好像是我疯了似的。
(6) 在很不正式的场合(尤其在美式英语中),like常被用作连接词,代替as if。
- She started kissing him like they were on their honeymoon.
她开始吻他,就像他们在度蜜月似的。
