(1) break in on/upon意为“打断某人的话;打断某事”,可后接人,也可接事。
- The loud bell on the clock broke in upon my dreams.
闹钟的铃声打断了我的梦。 - I'm sorry to break in on your private thoughts, but I think we should get on with some work.
很抱歉打断你的思绪,但我想我们应该做些工作了。
(2) break into 可作“打断”解,后接事,不接人。
- The child broke into the conversation with demands for attention.
这个孩子打断了谈话,嫌大人不理会他/她。
(3) burst in on表示“匆忙打断,打扰”,含有急急忙忙的意味。
- I'm sorry to burst in on you like this, but I have an urgent message.
很抱歉这么急急忙忙地打扰你,但我有一封急信(给你)。
(4) burst on/upon可以表示“风风火火、急匆匆打断(某事)”,与burst in on意思接近。
- We were having a quiet meal outdoors when the boys burst upon the scene, shouting and fooling about.
我们正在室外安安静静地吃着饭,这时那些男孩子闯了过来,又喊又叫,闹腾了一番。
(5) cut in on也可表示“打断(别人的谈话)”。
- Don't cut in on other people's conversations.
不要打断别人的谈话。
(6) cut into 可作“打断、打乱(计划、安排、活动等)”解,在此义上等于break into。
- Their regular visits cut/break into our weekends.
他们定期的来访打乱了我们的周末安排。
