(1) bring home to (sb.)可表示“说服(某人)相信……；使(某人)认识到……”。

• You must bring the difficulty home to John.
  你必须使约翰充分认识到这一困难。
• You must bring home to John what the difficulty is.
  你必须使约翰认识到这一困难是什么。

 (2) come home to (sb.)可表示“被某人充分认识到”。

• At last the real difficulty has come home to John.
  约翰终于认识到真正的困难所在。
• It has come home to John that we haven't enough money.
  约翰已充分认识到，我们的钱不够。

 (3) drive home to (sb.)表示“彻底向(某人)讲清楚……；使(某人)充分认识到……”，较bring home to(sb.)意味强。

• You must drive the difficulty home to him.
  你必须把困难彻底跟他讲清楚。
• You must drive it home to him that we don't have enough money.
  你一定要使他真正认识到，我们的钱不够。
• My father drove home (to us) the evils of greed by telling us the story of Midas.
  父亲通过讲述弥达斯的故事，使我们真正认识到贪婪的罪恶。

 (4) ①get home to (sb.)可表示“使(某事)为(某人)所理解”，与bring home to(sb.)意思相近。

• You must get the difficulty home to John.
  你一定要使约翰理解这一困难。

②get home to (sb.)还可表示“回家去见(某人)；回到(某人)身边”。

• I always look forward to getting home to my wife and children.
  我总是盼望着回到家中妻儿的身边。
