(1) depart可表示“离开，动身，出发，起航”，用from接出发地，用for接目的地。还可表示“背离，不按……行事”，与from连用。

• Before you depart , let me give a word of advice.
  你启程之前，让我给你一句忠告。
• The plane departed from Paris for Tokyo.
  这架飞机从巴黎飞往东京。
• We cannot depart from our regular practice in such cases.
  在这种情况下，我们不能背离我们惯常的做法。
• She departed from the normal procedure by allowing reporters to be present during Council business.
  她没按正常的程序去做，允许记者在讨论委员会事务期间在场。

 (2) ①deviate意为“偏离，背离，不按……办”，通常指“偏离”行为准则、道德规范、正确道路等，多用于抽象意义，后接from。

• The teacher deviated from her custom and gave out no homework.
  老师没有按照惯例布置家庭作业。
• Don't deviate from what we're talking about.
  不要偏离我们正在谈论的事情。

②有时deviate用作及物动词，意为“使偏离”。

• They could not be deviated from what they believed to be their duty.
  无法使他们偏离他们认为是自己职责的东西。

 (3) diverge表示“岔开，分出，离开，偏离”，可用于具体事物，也可用于抽象事物，后接from。

• He diverges increasingly from the right path.
  他越来越偏离正确道路。
• After university their lives diverged and they did not meet again for 50 years.
  大学之后，他们天各一方，50年来都没有再见面。
• Don't diverge from the truth.
  不要偏离真理。
• At the end of the wood the path diverges to the left.
  在小树林尽头，小路向左边拐了。

 (4) divert意为“引开，使转入”，是及物动词，可用于具体事物，也可引申用于抽象意义,后接from。

• The peasants managed to divert the water from the canal into their fields.
  农民设法把水从水渠中引到田地里。
• Such special funds are not allowed to be diverted from their assigned uses.
  这些专款必须专用。
• You must do something to divert her thoughts from her painful loss of her husband.
  你必须做些什么把她的思绪从失去丈夫的痛苦中转移开。
