flash, gleam, glance, glint, glisten 与 sparkle 这些词都含有“发光、闪光”的意思。

 (1) flash指耀眼的光突然发出且转瞬即逝。

• Thunder rolled and lightning flashed in the sky.
  天空中电闪雷鸣。
• Cameras flashed , questions were shouted.
  照相机一闪一闪，人们大声提出问题。

 (2) gleam指发出亮度不大且柔和的光，可表示透过某种媒介而现出微光，也可表示光滑洁净的表面发出微光。

• I only saw the headlights gleam in the fog.
  在雾中，我只看到车前灯射出的光。
• He had polished the table-top until it gleamed .
  他把桌面擦得很亮。

 (3) glance指亮光由平面反射出来，“闪闪发光”。

• Sunlight glanced from the window.
  窗户反射出太阳光。
• His sword glanced in the sunlight.
  他的剑在阳光下闪闪发光。

 (4) glint指迅速闪烁微弱的光。

• The sun glinted through the leaves after the shower.
  阵雨过后，阳光透过叶隙闪烁着微弱的光芒。

 (5) glisten指光洁或湿润的表面等闪闪发光。

• The snow glistened in the dawn light.
  雪在黎明的曙光中闪耀。
• His brow glistened with sweat.
  他额头上的汗珠闪闪发光。

 (6) sparkle指发出许多小且亮的光点，有时是因反射而成的。

• Her diamonds sparkled in the candle-light.
  她的钻石在烛光中闪闪发亮.
