(1) give (me, us) the word意为“说一声，下命令”。

• The commander gave us the word to fire at the intruding enemy.

 (2) give one's word意为“做出保证”。

• I give you my word (of honor) I will finish it next week.
  我向你保证我将在下周完成它。
• He gave me his word that he would not have anything to do with those people.

 (3) say/speak the word意为“只要说一声，告诉一声”。

• If you get tired of the job, say the word .
  如果你对这工作厌烦了，就说一声。
• I'll give any help you want; just say/speak the word .
