(1) hear表示“听到”,强调结果;listen意为“听,倾听”,强调动作。如要接宾语,listen后要加to。
- I heard some people passing in the street.
我听到有人从街上经过。 - Can you hear me?
你能听见我说话吗? - We should listen attentively to the criticisms of the masses.
我们应倾听群众的批评。 - I listened to you carefully, but I couldn't hear what you were saying.
我认真地听了,但听不到你在说什么。 - I heard that hateful pop singer talking glibly, but I didn't listen to what he was saying.
我听见那个讨厌的流行歌手油腔滑调地谈话,但我没去听他在说什么。
(2) 当说及“听过”音乐演出、广播、谈话、讲座等时,应用hear。
- Did you hear Jack's talk on Tuesday?
你听杰克在星期二的讲话了吗? - I heard Oistrakh play the Mendelssohn concerto last night.
昨晚我听了奥伊斯特拉演奏的门德尔松协奏曲。
*但下例中要用listen to。
