(1) know指直接地知道,know of是间接地知道,指听人说过,从书报等看到过。
- I know of the actor, but I don't know him personally.
我听说过这个演员,但我本人并不认识他。
(2) know...from...意为“区分,辨别”。
- A man must at least have the capability of knowing/to know right from wrong.
一个人至少应有辨别是非的能力。
(3) known to (to为介词)意为“为(某人)所知”。
- The singer is well known to us all.
这位歌手是我们大家都熟知的。 - Vahid has been known to me for two years, and I can write with full confidence about his suitability for the vacancy in your firm.
我认识瓦希德已经两年了,我可以满怀信心地推荐他到贵公司补缺。
(4) be known to (接动词原形)意思是“以……而闻名”。
- He is known to be a skilled worker.
他以一名熟练工而闻名。
(5) know about意为“了解、知道(……的)情况”。
- I want to know about this thing now from beginning to end.
我现在要从头至尾了解这件事的情况。 - Do you happen to know about him?
你对他了解吗?
(6) knowing to 是“知道,了解,清楚”,相当于aware of, knowing 用作形容词。
- I believe they were really knowing to the matter.
我相信他们确实知道这件事。
