(1) mustn't是告诉某人不要做某事，表示“禁止”。

• You mustn't move any of the papers on my desk.
  你一定不要动我桌上的任何文件。

 (2) don't need to, needn't, don't have to则是“不必做某事”，可以互换。(另见“have to...”条目)

• You needn't/don't need to/don't have to come tomorrow if you are busy.
  如果你很忙的话，明天就不必来了。

 (3) 另外，be与不定式连用也可表示命令，如：家长就常用这种形式告诉孩子做或不做什么事。

• You're to finish your homework before you go out to play football.
  你要做完作业再出去踢足球。
• Tell her/she's not to be back late.
  告诉她不要回来晚了。
