(1) opportunity意为“机会，时机”(favorable time or chance)，后面可接for something, for doing something, of doing something或to do something。
possibility是“可能性”，后接of doing something或that从句。
probability是“或然，大概，可能性”，含有潜在的推理，语气较 possibility强，后面接of something, of doing something或that从句，一般不说sb. has a possibility或sb. has a probability，而用there is句型。用动词have时，一般用opportunity。
- There is a possibility of my going to the U.S.A. to further my studies sometime next year.
我有可能明年某个时候去美国进修。 - For the first time the possibility of something serious having happened entered his mind.
他第一次想到，可能发生了某种严重的事情。 - So far as I can make out there is a possibility of his mother taking part in the venture.
依我之见，可能他母亲参与了这项风险投资。 - There remained the possibility that David might have been taken prisoner.

(2) in all probability意思是“非常可能；几乎肯定”。
- I have no idea where last Saturday's newspaper is, in all probability it has been thrown away.
我不知道上周六的报纸在哪儿，很可能已被扔掉了。
