(1) ①part意思是“部分”，为一般用语。
- The story is told in three parts .
这故事被分为三部分讲述。
②(a) part of作主语时，谓语动词的数与of后的名词、代词的数一致。
- A part of the meat has gone bad.
这肉有一部分坏了。 - A part of the apples are still good.
这些苹果有一部分仍然是好的。 - The latter part of April Jack went home to see his parents.
4月下旬，杰克回家看望父母。
③the greater part, the better part均指大部分；the best part指最大部分；one's better part则是指爱人(丈夫或妻子)。
- The greater part of the night he worked at helping to organize the strikers.
他忙了大半夜，帮助把罢工工人组织起来。
④a good part指“很大部分(不一定过半)”。
- I walked a good part of the way to keep company with Jane.
为了陪伴简，我步行了很长一段路。
(2) ①portion意思是“一部分”，有时可与part换用。
- The money was divided into three portions/parts .
这笔钱被分成三部分。 - A portion of the blame for the accident must be borne by the driver.

②a portion of用作主语时动词用单数。
- A portion of the apples has been given to Tom.
这些苹果的一部分给了汤姆。
③portion也指“一份(饭菜等)”。
- He was very hungry and ordered two portions of fish.

(3) proportion意思是“比例(关系)”，有时也作“部分”解，a proportion of用作主语时，谓语动词用单数。
- The proportion of imports to exports is worrying the government.
进出口的比例使政府忧心忡忡。 - The proportion of “A” shares to ordinary shares must not exceed one to five.
“A股”对普通股的比例不能超过1∶5。 - A proportion of the profits was allotted to each partner in the company.
