(2) ①cite通常是为了证明自己的论点而举出例子,如书报、文件或某人的话,可以是原话,也可以是大意。
- It's no use citing the Bible to someone who doesn't believe in God.

他引用马克思的几行文字来支持自己的论点。 - The minister cited the latest crime figures as proof of the need for more police.
