区别辨析 thanks, thank you, I thank you, thank God/goodness/heavens, have (got) oneself to thank (for), I will thank you to (do) sth. 与 thank one's lucky stars

(1) ①thanks是复数名词,不能接宾语。非正式场合表示感谢可以说“thanks”,也可说:Thanks a lot./Thanks very much./Many thanks./A lot of thanks./A thousand thanks./Best thanks.

Thank you.是I thank you.的现代用法,后者现大多不用。Thank you比Thanks正式。对某人表示感谢的其他常见用法见下。

  • You're very/so kind .
    你真好。
  • It's awfully kind of you .
    你太好了。
  • I'm really very grateful to you .
    非常感激您。
  • I can't tell you how grateful I am to you .
    我不知该如何表达对您的谢意。
  • I really don't know how to thank you .
    不知该怎么谢您才好。
  • Much obliged to you for the trouble you have taken for me .
    给你带来这么多麻烦,真是太感谢你了。
  • I'm deeply obliged to you for what you have done for me .
    非常感谢您为我所做的一切。
  • I appreciate your kindness/your timely help .
    谢谢您的好意/您的及时帮助。
  • I appreciate your calling highly .
    非常感激你来看我。
  • Thanks for your gifts/letter .
    谢谢您的礼物/来信。

②thank you和thanks均可接“for doing sth.”结构。

  • A: Thank you/thanks for coming.
    谢谢您的来访。
    B: Not at all. Thank you for your having me.
    不用客气。非常感谢您的款待。
  • Thank you very much for sparing me your valuable time.
    非常感谢您为我挤出了您的宝贵时间。

③Thank you常在同意接受对方给予的东西(如酒菜等)时用,如同说“Yes, please”,如要拒绝,则说“No, thank you”。

{ A: Would you like some more sundaes? 再来点冰淇淋?

B: Thank you . 谢谢。

{ A: Have more meat, please. 请再吃点肉。

B: No, thank you . 不了,谢谢。

④在回答别人的感谢时,常用的说法是:

  • Not at all .(较正式)
    不客气。
  • Oh, no, don't mention it!
    不足挂齿!
  • Oh, no, the pleasure is mine .
    噢,不,这是我的荣幸。
  • It's a pleasure .
    不胜荣幸。
  • Oh, think nothing of it .
    别客气。
  • That's all right .
    没关系。
  • Oh, never mind, you're quite welcome .(美国人常用)
    不要紧,别客气。

⑤当对方为小事表达感谢时,通常可这样回答:

{ A: Thank you (Thanks) so much for looking after the children. 谢谢你帮我照看孩子。

B: That's all right . Any time. 没关系。随时都可以。

{ A: Here is your coat. 你的外套。

B: Thanks . 谢谢。

 (2) Thank God/goodness/heavens是“感谢上帝,谢天谢地”之意。

  • Thank goodness it hasn't rained today!
    谢天谢地,今天没下雨!
  • Thank heavens the ship was late leaving! Had it left punctually, we should have missed it.
    感谢上帝!船晚点了,要是按时开船,我们得错过这班船了。

 (3) ①have (got) oneself to thank (for)意为“……得怪自己”,是诙谐、嘲讽的说法。

  • You've only (got) yourself to thank for the trouble you're in.
    你倒霉只能怪你自己。
  • He has only himself to thank for failing the test.
    考试不及格只能怪他自己。

*有时也说:

  • He may thank himself for the accident.
    这起事故只能怪他自己。

②have (got) sb. to thank for可作“感谢某人”解,也有“只怪、都是……造成的”的意思。

  • I've you to thank for giving me such valuable advice.
    谢谢你的高见。
  • I've (got) John to thank for my cold. He caught it first and passed it to us all.
    我感冒全怪约翰。他先感冒的,又传染给我们了。

 (4) I'll thank you to (do sth.)意为“求你……”,有时表示带强调意味的要求,有时则有埋怨、嗔怪的意味。

  • I'll thank you to be quieter while I'm speaking.
    求求你,我说话时你安静点好不好。
  • I'll thank you not to follow me!
    求你别跟着我!

 (5) thank one's lucky stars意为“幸运”。

  • You can thank your lucky stars you didn't go to see the performance. It wasn't just bad, it was piteous!
    你真幸运没去看那表演。那岂止是糟糕,简直是糟透了!
  • Thank your lucky stars you don't have to do my job.
    你真幸运,不必做我的这份活了。
