在there be句型中，其后可接现在分词、不定式、过去分词，根据意思来决定。

• There are trains leaving here hourly for that city.
  从这里发往那座城市的火车每小时一班。
• There was a girl water-skiing on the lake.
  个小女孩在湖上滑水。
• There have been more Americans killed in road accidents than in all the wars since 1990.
  1990年以来在交通事故中丧生的美国人比同期所有在战争中丧生的人还要多。
• There must be no more time wasted .
  再不能浪费时间了。
• There is only 15 minutes left/to go .
  只有15分钟了。
• There is no time to lose/to be lost .
  没时间了。
• There is a lot of work to do/to be done .
  还有很多工作要做。

＊注意下面句子的差别：

• There is nothing to do — I'm bored. (=There are no entertainments.)
  没什么可做的——我感到很无聊。
• There is nothing to be done — we'll have to buy another one. (=There is no way of putting it right.)
  已经无法挽回了——我们得再另买一个。
