区别辨析 think nothing of, think nothing of it, think little/badly of, think highly/well of, think much/a great deal/a lot of, think ill/evil/badly of (sb.), think poorly of, think the world of, think meanly of, make light of, make light work of, make little of 与 make nothing of

 (1) think nothing of意为“觉得……不怎么样;觉得……没什么,不难”。

  • He thinks nothing of what we've achieved in the past years.
    对于我们近几年取得的成果他却认为没什么。
  • The scientist thinks nothing of biking five miles to work every day.
    这位科学家认为每天骑车五英里去上班没什么难的。

 (2) think nothing of it意思是“不用谢;不必当成事,不必介意”,在别人道谢或道歉时用,意思同it doesn't matter。

  • A: I'm sorry I interrupted your meal.
    很抱歉我打扰你用餐了。
    B: Oh, that's all right. Think nothing of it .
    没关系,真的没什么。

 (3) think little/badly of指“认为……不好”,think little of还可表示“对……不在意,不觉得难;不赞成”。

  • You thought little/of him earlier, did not you?
    你以前认为他不好,是吗?
  • She thought little of walking two miles to school.
    她认为步行两英里去学校是轻而易举的事情。
  • think little of what he advocates.
    我不赞成他的提议。

 (4) ①think highly/well of 意为“赞赏,对……印象好,评价高”。

  • The people here all think well/very highly of him. 这里的人们都很赞赏他。
  • He was highly thought of by his colleagues. 他给同事们留下的印象很好。

②也可用think better of表示“对……看法变好;认为……更好”。

  • think better of her now that she has said she's sorry she offended me; that takes moral courage.
    既然她因得罪我而向我道歉了,这需要道德上的勇气,我对她的看法也好转了。
  • I had always thought better of you than to suppose you could be so unkind.
    我过去一直认为你不至于那样狠心。

 (5) think much/a great deal/a lot of意思是“对……评价很高”,与think highly of 同义。

  • He thinks too much/highly of himself. (=He has too high an opinion of himself.)
    他自视太高。

 (6) think ill/evil/badly of (sb.)指“把(某人)想得坏”。

  • Do not think ill/evil/badly of me.
    不要把我想得那么坏。

 (7) think poorly of指“对……评价低;低估”。

  • They all think poorly of the way he treats his servant.
    他们都看不惯他对待佣人的方式。

 (8) think the world of意思是“对……印象非常好;非常喜欢”。

  • When I was a child, I had an aunt who thought the world of me and often gave me presents.
    在孩提时,有个阿姨非常喜欢我,还常送我礼物。

 (9) think meanly of (sb.)意为“看不起(某人)”。

  • I always think meanly of those men wearing a long plait.
    我鄙视那些留着长辫子的男人。

(10) make light of意为“使……显得没实际上严重;把……看得很轻(不在意)”。

  • No one will ever know how she made light of her suffering all those years.
    无人知道那么多年来她是如何做到对自己的痛苦看得很淡的。
  • The climbers made light of the difficulties and dangers they had faced in reaching the top of the world's highest mountain.
    这些登山者把攀上世界最高峰所面临的艰难险阻看得很轻。

(11) make light work of意思是“认为……没什么,不难”。

  • With their experience, the men made light work of moving the heavy furniture.
    凭经验,他们认为移动这笨重的家具不算难。
  • It was a difficult job, but he made light work of it.
    这是一项有难度的工作,但他认为没什么。

(12) make little of也可表示“不把……当回事;觉得……没什么了不起”。

  • He made little of what he had done for others.
    他觉得他为别人做的事没什么。
  • She made little of Mary's new car because she was jealous.
    她因为嫉妒觉得玛丽那新车没什么了不起。

(13) make nothing of可表示“轻而易举地做(某事)”。

  • This is one of the most difficult pieces to play, yet this wonderful young pianist made nothing of it.
