(1) uncover可作“发现，揭露出”解，指发现未知或被掩盖、保密之事。
- They uncovered a lot of relics in an ancient tomb of the Han Dynasty.
他们在汉代古墓中发现了很多遗迹。 - Their plot was finally uncovered .
他们的阴谋最终被发现了。
(2) disclose意为“泄露，披露，显露”。
- He disclosed the secret to the newspaper.
他向媒体泄露了这个秘密。 - The fog dispersed, to disclose a chain of mountains in the distance.
大雾消散，连绵的远山逐渐显现出来。
(3) discover意为“发现”，指发现一个事实、问题的答案，或一个已经存在但不为人知的事物。该词与find很接近，不少情况下可以换用，但在表示一个发现、特别是科学上的发现时，只能用discover。
- Columbus is said to have discovered America in 1492.
据说，哥伦布在1492年发现了美洲新大陆。 - Did you ever discover who sent you the flowers?
你发现是谁给你送的花吗？ - A new oil field has been discovered/found under the South China Sea.
在中国南海海底发现了一个新油田。 - I soon discovered that he was not really interested in the scheme.

(4) ①reveal意为“使显露，使露出”，指让人看见。
- The curtain opened, to reveal a darkened stage.
幕布打开，露出了一个黑暗的舞台。 - Bikinis reveal more than swimming costumes.
比基尼比泳衣更暴露。
②reveal还可表示“透露，泄露，暴露”，指让他人知道。
- No one knew his identity until he revealed it by accident.
他无意中泄露了自己的身份，在此之前无人知晓。 - He had revealed the secret to Jack without quite realizing its consequences.
他把秘密泄露给了杰克，没有意识到其后果。 - The letters reveal him as/to be an honest man.

(5) ①expose意为“使暴露、显露、袒露”，使处于失去保护(防护)的状态。
- Don't expose your skin to the sun for too long.
不要将你的皮肤在阳光下晒太长时间。 - The soldiers were warned to remain hidden and not to expose themselves.
士兵被警告要做好隐蔽，不要暴露了自己。
②expose可以引申表示“使经受、遭受(风险、危险等)”。
- Her youth and beauty will expose her to many dangers.
她的年轻和美丽会使她遭受很多危险。 - A wise military commander do not expose his men to unnecessary risks.
一个英明的军事指挥官是不会把士兵置于无谓的冒险之中的。
