(1) unfasten意为“解开，松开，敞开”，用于衣服、门、绳结等。

 (2) ①undo可作“解开，松开”解。

• He tried to undo the knots in the string.
  他试图解开这根绳子上的这些结。
• Can you undo (the buttons of) my dress at the back for me?
  你能帮我解开衣服后面的扣子吗？

②undo还可作“清除，破坏，使完全白做”解。

• You should know that your mistake has undone our half year's work.

• Mary tidied the room, but the boys who came in later undid her good work.

③undo又作“毁掉”解，尤其指名誉扫地。

 (3) untie意为“解开，松开”。

• Untie the prisoners. Let them go free!
  放开犯人，让他们自由吧。
• His shoe lace became untied and he tripped over the loose ends.

 (4) ①unlock指“打开锁”。

• Have you unlocked the door?
  你打开门了吧？

②unlock可以引申用于比喻意义，表示“把……松开、解开、打开”。

• Scientists have always been making efforts to unlock the secrets of nature.
  科学家一直致力于解开自然界的奥秘。
• I know you have a key to unlock hearts.
  我知道你有一把打开心扉的钥匙。

 (5) loose作形容词较多，也可作动词，意为“放开，松开，解开”，loosen用作动词，与loose同义，但比loose更常用。

• Can you loose/loosen the knot in the rope?

• Loose his bonds and set him free!
