(1) wallow in可表示以下几个意思：

①(动物等)在(泥、水中)打滚；(船在水上)颠簸行驶。

• These big river creatures like to wallow in the mud to cool their skins.
  这些大型的水生动物喜欢在泥浆中打滚以降低它们皮肤的温度。
• The pigs were wallowing in the dirt as usual.
  这些猪像往常一样正在泥土中打滚。
• Our small boat wallowed in the stormy sea.
  我们的小船在风暴肆虐的大海上颠簸前行。

②“沉溺于……”，一般用于不好的事情，常用进行时态。

• Why are you always wallowing in self-pity? It does no good.
  你为何总是沉溺于自哀自怜？那没有好处。
• He's really wallowing in the praise of his new book.
  他确实沉溺于对他的新书的称赞之中。
• The longer she wallows in feelings of guilt, the harder will it be for her to make a fresh start.

③引申表示“拥有(钱财)”，用于非正式文体，常用进行时态。

• He came to this country without a penny, but after only a few years, he was already wallowing in money and property.

 (2) ①roll in引申表示“拥有(钱财)”，用于非正式文体，常用进行时态；也可表示“沉溺于……”，一般用于不好的事情，可与wallow in换用。

• He's now rolling/wallowing in money and property.
  他现在拥有大量金钱和财产。
• They all claimed to be very poor, when as a matter of fact they were actually rolling in wealth.
  他们都口口声声说自己穷，而事实上，他们非常富有。
• I hate those who are rolling in luxury.
  我憎恨那些沉溺于奢侈豪华中的人。
• Thieves always aim for houses where the people are known to be rolling in money.
  小偷总是把目标锁定在以有钱出名的人家的房子上。

②roll in还可表示“(在……中)翻滚,(船在水中)颠簸”。

• The porpoise is rolling in the water.
  海豚正在水中出没。
• The ship was rolling violently in the storm.
  轮船在风暴中猛烈地颠簸着。

 (3) welter in可以表示“在(泥和水)中翻滚；(船)在……中颠簸”。也可表示“沉溺/浸于……之中”，通常用于不好的方面，多用进行时态，这时，可与wallow in, roll in换用。

• The hog weltered/wallowed/rolled in the mire.
  那头猪在烂泥中打滚。
• After the battle, the whole field was weltering in blood.
  这次战斗之后，鲜血染红了整个战场。
• Our boat was weltering in the stormy sea.
