西贡小姐

Miss Saigon is a musical by Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil, with lyrics by Boublil and Richard Maltby, Jr. The musical was premièred at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London, on 20 September 1989, closing after over four thousand performances, on 30 October 1999. It opened on Broadway at the Broadway Theatre in 1991 and subsequently played in many other cities and embarked on tours. The musical represented Schönberg and Boublil's second major success, following Les Misérables in 1985.

Miss Saigon is based on Giacomo Puccini's opera Madame Butterfly , and similarly tells the tragic tale of a doomed romance involving an Asian woman abandoned by her American lover. The setting of the plot is relocated to the 1970s Saigon during the Vietnam War. On the eve when U.S. forces withdrew from Saigon city after the Vietnam War, a U.S. soldier Chris encountered a Vietnamese girl Kim on the beauty pageant of bar girls. And they fell in love with each other. Unfortunately, with the sudden retreatment of the U. S. military, they lost touch. Later on, Kim gave birth to Chris' son, and she planned to go to America to find Chris. However, when they happened to meet again in Bangkok, Thailand, Chris had already been married. In order to let her son live with his father, Kim took her own life and died in the arms of Chris eventually.
《西贡小姐》是贾科莫·普契尼歌剧《蝴蝶夫人》的现代改编版。它讲述的也是一个亚洲女子被其美国情人抛弃的悲剧故事。故事背景转为20世纪70年代处于越南战争中的西贡。越战结束后，美军撤离西贡前夕，美军士兵克里斯与越南少女金在酒吧女郎的选美比赛上相遇，两人陷入爱河。不幸的是，美军突然撤离，克里斯和金就此失去联系。后来，金生下克里斯的儿子，计划带着儿子前往美国寻找克里斯。然而，他们在泰国曼谷相逢时克里斯已经结婚。为了让儿子和父亲一起生活，金选择了自杀，最后死在克里斯怀中。
