The Big Bang Theory is an American television comedy, premiering on CBS on 24 September, 2007. It is created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, both of whom serve as executive producers on the show along with Steven Molaro. All three also serve as head writers. The sitcom has already had eight seasons. And the eighth season premiered on 22 September, 2014.

The show is primarily centered on five characters living in Pasadena, California: roommates Leonard and Sheldon, both physicists; Penny, a waitress and aspiring actress who lives across the hall; Leonard and Sheldon's equally geeky and socially awkward friends and co-workers, mechanical engineer Howard Wolowitz and astrophysicist Raj Koothrappali. As they are self-professed nerds, the four guys usually spend time working on their individual work projects, playing video games, watching science-fiction movies, or reading comic books. So there is no doubt they all have little or no luck with popular women. But things have changed since Penny, a pretty woman originally from Omaha, moved into the apartment. The intellect of the four geeks is contrasted for comic effect with Penny's social skills and common sense.

The Big Bang Theory initially received mixed reviews. No matter how people criticize the show, the truth is that it has won numerous awards including 2 Emmy Awards, 68th and 69th Golden Globe Awards.
