有一读者问：下面一句是什么意思：
(1)It isn't as if he were poor.
这句话可直译为：他不像是贫穷的样子。其实际含义是：他又不穷!或：他才不穷呢！再如：
(2)Why was James at the party? It was not as if he were a relative. （后一句可译为：他又不是什么亲戚!）
(3)It isn't as if I'd given him to believe that I was experienced! I made it clear that I wasn't. （第一句可译为：我又没有要他信以为我是训练有素的呀!）
It isn't as if...也可后接一否定结构，如：
(4)Why doesn't she buy us a drink? It isn't as if she had no money. （第二句可译为：她又不是没有钱!或：她有的是钱!）
不消说，也可用肯定结构 It is as if...，如：
(5)I couldn't move my legs. It was as if they were stuck to the floor.
(6)It is as if there were some psychic healing tissue.
注意上述结构中，as if 之后既可用虚拟时态，如例 （1）、（2）、（4）、（5）、（6），亦可用普通时态，如例 （3）。
