有一读者问： 有这样一道题：
(1)I'd like to work it out all by myself rather than_________someone else for help.
A. ask B. to ask C. asking D. will ask
答案选A。A项当然是对的，但我认为C项也对，例如《朗文英语语法》第574页上就有这样的句子：
(2)Rather than waste/wasting your time doing it yourself, why don't you call in a builder?
句（1）中的rather than应看做是短语等立（或并列）连词，故其后应用ask。句（2）中的rather than则既可看作等立连词，亦可看作介词，故其后既可接waste，亦可接wasting。
