(1) ①beach, shore均可指海边陆地，shore也可指湖岸。beach(海滩)比较平坦，覆盖沙或小石子，适合游泳、日光浴、小船登陆等；shore不只包括海滩，也包括有岩石或峭壁的地方。
- Would you feel like a walk along the beach?
你想沿着海滩散散步吗？ - Let's go for a swim at the beach .
咱们去海滩游泳吧。 - I like lying on the beach looking at children play.
我喜欢躺在海滩上看孩子们玩耍。 - After the storm there was a lot of driftwood washed up on the shore .
暴风雨过后，有许多浮木被冲到了海滩上。
②beach还可指临近海岸的地区。
- We're vacationing at the beach .
我们正在海滨度假。
(2) ①coast用于表示“从远处/高处看海和陆地的分界/海岸”，或作为一个整体来看的“海岸或沿海地区”。
- Looking down from the plane, we could easily see the Dutch coast .
从飞机上往下看，我们可以很容易看到荷兰海岸。 - We live ten miles from the coast .
我们住在离海岸10英里处。
＊不可说：I saw some people sitting on the coast.
②另外，说到coast，好像它是属于陆地的；说到shore，好像它是属于水的。
- There are numerous islands off the coast .
海岸以外有许多岛屿。 - The village is on the south coast .

* 再如：the French coast, the seashore, the shore of Lake Geneva。
(3) bank可指“河岸，湖岸”。
- The river flows between its banks .
河水在两岸之间流动。 - They pitched their tent on the bank of the lake.

(4) seashore意为“海滨，海岸，海滩”，特指陆地与大海相接处。
- Let's go for a walk along the seashore .

(5) ①seaside指“海滨地区”，特别是度假胜地。
- We are thinking of going to the seaside for our summer holidays.

②seaside常可用作定语。
