区别辨析 be in sight/view, be within sight/view, bring sth. into sight/view, come into sight/view, come within sight/view (of), disappear from sight/view, get out of sight/view, go out of sight/view, get within sight (of), keep sth. in sight, keep sight of 与 lose sight of

 (1) be in sight/view, be within sight/view意思均为“能被看见;在视线内”,没有太大差别,其反义短语为be out of sight/view。

  • Is land in sight yet?
    能看见陆地了吗?
  • Although the town had been in view for an hour, we seemed to be getting no nearer.
    虽然看见这座小镇已一个小时了,但我们好像总不能接近似的。
  • Make sure that the children are within view all the time you are on the shore.
    你们在海滩时,一定要让孩子始终在视线以内。
  • I waved my handkerchief until the train was out of sight , and then went sadly home.
    我挥动着手帕直到火车看不见了,才怏怏地走回家去。

 (2) bring sth. into sight/view意为“使某物能被看见”。

  • The clouds suddenly divided, bringing the sun into view at last.
    云层忽然分开,太阳终于露出来了。

 (3) come into sight/view意为“开始进入视线,开始被看见”。

  • At last the city came into view .
    终于能看见那座城市了。
  • By the time the town came into sight , we were too tired to go any further.
    等到能看见那座城市时,我们已累得再也走不动了。

 (4) ①come within sight/view (of)意为“能(被某人)或能(从某地)看见”。

  • At last the little town came within sight/view; our journey was nearly over.
    终于能看见这座小城了,我们的旅行快要告终了。

②come within sight of(也用come within striking distance of)还表示“非常接近(目的);眼看要/快要做某事”。

  • Another few dollars, and we shall come within sight of the amount we need for the project.
    再有几美元,我们就快弄到这项工程所需要的金额了。
  • We came within striking distance of winning the contract, when our competitors beat us.
    我们眼看着就要赢得这项合同了,我们的竞争对手却击败了我们。

 (5) disappear from sight/view, get out of sight/view, go out of sight/view意思均为“不再能被看见,从视线内消失”。

  • The car gathered speed and soon disappeared from/got out of/went out of view .
    汽车加了速,很快就看不见了。
  • Mary waved her handkerchief until the train got/went out of sight , and then went sadly back to school.
    玛丽挥动着手帕直到火车在视线中消失,才郁郁不乐地返回学校。

 (6) get within sight (of)意思是“(使)能看见;(使)能被看见”。

  • Get the criminal within sight and keep him within sight!
    要能看见罪犯并将其保持在视线范围内!
  • As we got to the top of the mountain, we got within sight of the villages on the other side of the valley.
    当我们到达山顶时,我们可以看到山谷那边的村庄。

 (7) keep sth. in sight意思是“始终想着,不忘(某一个目标)”,这时也可用keep sight of。

  • It will help you to work at your studies if you keep your examination in sight. (...if you keep sight of your examination.)
    如果你能始终想着你的考试,这将会有助于你的学习。

 (8) keep sight of除表示“不忘,不忽略”之意(如上例)外,还表示“保持着可看见……的距离;使始终能被看见”,有时也用keep within sight。

  • He kept sight of her/kept her within sight as she rode along the street.
    当她沿着街骑车时,他保持着能看见她的距离。
  • Always keep sight of your main purpose in life; it gives you something to aim for.
    始终不要忘记你生活的主要目标,这会使你有所追求。

 (9) lose sight of的一个意思是“不再能看见(某人或某物)”;另一个意思是“忘记了(某一目标)”。

  • Don't lose sight of the car that you're chasing.
    要紧盯着你追踪的那辆车。
  • Never lose sight of your main purpose in life.
    千万不要忘记你生活的主要目标。
