(1) belong是不及物动词，可与介词或副词连用，描述人或物所属的正确位置、范畴、类别等，用什么介词，要根据意思需要来定。

• The pen belongs to my brother.
  这支钢笔是我弟弟的。
• He belongs to the Foreign Languages School.
  他是外语学院的。
• The knives belong in the left-hand drawer.
  这些刀应放在左边抽屉里。
• They belong in this block.(=live in)
  他们住在这个街区。
• He believes the film The Titanic to belong in the first class.
  他认为电影《泰坦尼克号》是一流的。
• We five belong together .
  我们五个是一起的。
• The belt belongs with that coat.
  这带子是配那件上衣的。
• The cups belong on the shelf.
  这些杯子应放在架子上。
• The pan belongs under this sink.
  锅应放在洗涤槽下面。

 (2) belong含有持续、过程的意味，因此不用进行式；它是不及物动词，没有含被动意味的过去分词。
