(1) consist in意为“以……为要素；在于……”。

• For him, great happiness consists in giving rather than taking.
  对于他来说，最大的幸福在于给予而不是索取。

 (2) consist of意为“由……构成”，口语中较常用be made up of。

• The report consists of/ is made up of four parts.
  报告由四部分组成。
• A year consists of 12 months.
  一年有12个月。

 (3) consist with意为“与……一致、适合、并存”，在表示“与……相称、一致、适合”之意时，可与comport with, consort with换用。

• The politician's actions do not consist with the promises in his speeches.
  这位政客的行动与他演讲中所做的承诺并不一致。
• Your conduct does not consist/comport/consort with your rank.
  你的所作所为有失身份。
