(1) cross out, cross off, score out意思是“画掉，勾掉，删去”，off可以是副词，也可是介词。

• Cross out/off the last two names. They're not members any more.
  把最后两个名字划掉，他们已不再是成员了。
• Score out that last name. I no longer intend to invite him.
  划去最后那个名字，我不再想邀请他了。

 (2) scratch out意为“把……划/刮掉；取消”。

• Names had been cut on the wall, but had then been scratched out .
  墙上刻了一些名字，但后来又被刮掉了。
• I looked at the list; somebody had scratched his name out .
  我看了看名单，有人把他的名字划掉了。

 (3) scrub out也可表示“把……划掉，取消”。

• The football game had to be scrubbed out because of the snowstorm.
  这场足球赛由于暴风雪不得不取消。
• Scrub out that last part of the message; the wording is not very polite.
  划掉电报的最后一部分：措辞上不是很礼貌。

 (4) strike off, strike out, strike through均可表示去掉、除掉(所写文字的某个部分)，其中off, out, through均用作副词。

• Strike off/out/through his name. I refuse to have him as my guest!
  去掉他的名字。我不能让他作我的客人！
• Strike that last paragraph through ; it has little to do with the central idea.
  去掉那最后一段，它与中心思想关系不大。
