(1) enter用于指进入某场所、建筑物和机构,不需介词(into),与come/go into同义。
- He entered the room/school/house/town/army.
他进了房间/学校/屋子/镇里/军队。
在口语中,come into和go into较常用。
(2) ①enter into表示“开始进入或进行;缔结(婚约或条约等)”,多接如discussion, negotiation, talks, conversation, details, a war, combat, readiness, agreement等含有抽象意味的名词。
- Britain has entered into a new trade agreement with Ireland.
英国与爱尔兰缔结了一项新的贸易协定。 - As soon as we entered into the work, we realized it was going to be difficult.
我们一投入工作,就意识到这将是非常困难的一项工作。
②但在特别强调深入某具体场所或某物时,有时也可用enter into。
- We entered into a woody mountain.
我们走进了一座林木茂密的大山。 - The arrow entered into the flesh.
箭深深地射进了肉里。
③enter into后接plan(s),calculations等,表示“预计到,估计到”。
- The possibility of an air-attack from the west did not enter into the calculations of the Headquarters of the General Staff.
总参谋部没有估计到从西面进行空中攻击的可能性。 - John's accident did not enter into our plans. We shall have to go without him.
我们没有预计到约翰会出事。我们将不得不在没有他的情况下出发。
(3) enter on/upon意为“开始……;投身于……;着手……”。
- We have entered upon a new phase in man's history.
我们已进入人类历史的新阶段。
*又如:enter upon a study/a career/one's new duties。
