(1) far通常不用于肯定句，特别是在口语中，如：We walked far.和I live far from the center of town. 这两句话并非不对，但多数人喜用a long way。

• You must be tired; you have walked a long/good way .
  你一定累了；你已走了很远的路。
• It's a very long way from here to Africa.
  从这里到非洲路程很远。

 (2) 在疑问句和否定句中用far是很自然的。

• How far did we walk?
  我们走了多远了？
• She doesn't live far from the railway station.
  她住得离火车站不远。

 (3) 在肯定句中常用在too和so后。另外，还常用在as/so far as, so far, far from(远非是)等习语中。

• You've gone too far .
  你走得太远了。
• It's OK as far as I know.
  就我所知，没有问题。
• We haven't had any problem so far .
  截至目前，我们还没有任何问题。
• The teacher is far from satisfied with my results.
  老师对我的成绩远非满意。
